I'm no shopper, but this is where I go when I'm beginning to look tatty. If it's your first time in Paris, start in the major stores on Rivoli, Hausmann and Les Halles for a kickstart, then work around them. North Paris has a vibe of its own but may not be for everyone.

There's plenty to see in this city on an art perspective. Pick up a PARISCOPE from any news kiosk (costs only 40c) for the latest gig guide and exhibition listings. On the first Sunday of the month, all museums are free.

The Promenade Plantee is a beautiful landscaped pedestrian trail high above the 12th arondissement built on the top of an abandoned viaduct. When you return home ask your government officials "If Paris can have one why can't we have one?" :) Wouldn't it be great to have more dedicated bike/pedestrian places like this in the world?
