The most historic site of California punk. Shows are still cheap, volunteers still run it, and booze/drugs/jerks are still not allowed. Get yer slam dance on!
One of Berkeley's hidden secrets. Great coffee, tons of atmosphere, centrally located, and has authentic French charm in spades. This is where you charm ladies.
Learn to do and/or make everything and anything awesome for free or cheap! Learn how to fix your bike, screenprint, sew that extra-large t-shirt, and be awesome
Pick your poison! Choose your roast and your method of brewing and enjoy some of the best beans and roasts the EB has to offer. Great place to hang, too.
Vital Ital is the vegan diet of devout Rastafaris. And it is SO TASTY. I love that the kind guy behind the counter will always tell you his day is beautiful.
If you like punk, hardcore, indie or any of its tangential genres, this is maybe the best record store of all time. Great finds in the bins at great prices. <3
The local dive to end all local dives. Great blue collar special and a cool mix of patrons. Don't tell the fuzz, but you can smoke inside, like a true dive.
This is a great spot to share a pitcher. Good prices, good tunes on the juke, free popcorn, and a surly bartender lady! Surprisingly few students, too.
I love spending a lazy, sunny Sunday at Willard. Bring a book, get a cold beverage and a sandwich across the street at Andronicos, and take in the sun.
Ho-boy. All vegetarian (and some vegan) sandwiches. Free wifi and fair trade coffee. This is the place to do your craigslist searching or resume writing.
THE COOLEST PLACE EVER. The 'Ore is like eBay, except in a tangible place and before eBay blew up. Find absolutely anything here. Reuse is the new black!
$5 movies. And you can order beer/wine/soda and food (vegan options, pizzas, sandwiches, etc) that they'll deliver to you in your seats! 2 for 1 on Wednesdays!
Criminally delicious and authentic all vegan Mexican food. Find pozole, taquitos, and tamales (plus seasonal stuff) at any Berkeley Farmer's Market year round.
Best vegan, veg, and carnivore brunch in town with a kickin' to-go style coffee bar outside to boot. Great spot for a tasty italian dinner, too!
Great guide, will take this with me next visit to the East Bay. Thanks!
