A little bit of Germany in San Francisco

There aren't a huge number of German spots in San Francisco, but when I have a craving for something German, these have never let me down. If I've missed any, definitely let me know -- I'll add you as a collaborator.

Schmidt's

Fantastic German food and beer. The wild boar sausage and wiener schnitzel have been especially memorable. Be prepared to wait on weekends.

Walzwerk

Enjoy great German food in an environment reminiscent of East Germany. The schintzel is excellent and there's no shortage of German beer choices.

Suppenküche

Potato pancakes, boots of beer, and communal seating - what more could you ask for? When you crave German food, Suppenkuche will satisfy.

Lehr's German Specialties

A nice shop in Noe Valley selling all kinds of specialty German food items, clothing, and nick-knacks. Good for unusual gifts and Christmas items.

Rosamunde Sausage Grill

Not just a German place, but any place that serves currywurst can't help but remind me of Berlin. Fantastic sausage and beer selection. Can be very loud.
