And so the human race start to spread from that place. And that was exactly Armenia! Last 200 years Ararat itself is in Turkey, but it is however sacred mountain for Armenians, and is the national Armenian symbol. And then - Armenia was the first country in the world to officially adopt Christianity. They did it as early as 301 AD - 60 years before Roman Empire did the same!

It was built in the first century A.D. by the Armenian King Tiridates with the money he received after visiting Emperor Nero in Rome. The temple was destroyed in 1679 in an earthquake, but was reconstructed in Soviet times.

In the early 4th century not far from the village of Karbi St. Gregory the Illuminator founded a little church which was the basis of Ovanavank monastery. In its present condition Ovanavank monastery is represented by buildings of the 12 th – 13 th centuries. The complex appeared in 1216 when the prince Vache Vachyutian founded Surb Karapet church (1216-1221). The monastery was built on the caves and is connected to the gorge by means of the staircase. The fourth-century church lies in ruins now. You can see them near the most ancient structure of Ovanavank – the basilica erected in the fifth century. It was rebuilt in 573 and was repeatedly renovated afterwards. The temple ' s vestibule was built in 1250. In 1311 the memorial column on the stepped pedestal was erected in the western part of the monastery
Erebuni was founded by the Urartian King Argishti I (r. ca. 785 – 753 BC) in 782 BC. It was built on top of a hill called Arin Berd (Fortress of Blood) overlooking the Arax River Valley to serve as a military stronghold to protect the kingdom's northern borders
