Berlin is my all-time favorite city. There always seems to be interesting stuff going on -- whether an impromptu street party, unusual art exhibition, or construction of an amazing new building. Grab a curry wurst and enjoy!
Preserved section of the Berlin wall covered with murals by artists from all over the world. Captures a post-Wall feel like no other place I know.
Contemporary art in a beautifully renovated train station. Drop by at night to see the Dan Flavin light installation on the exterior.
Don't miss this statue in the middle of the Tiergarten. Fans of Wim Wenders's Wings of Desire may recognize this immediately.
Take a walk along this tree-lined street and stop at one of the many cafes for an afternoon tea.
Beautifully restored gate to the city at the end of Unter den Linden.
A bombed out church from WWII preserved as a reminder of the destruction of war.
Both saddening and moving, this sculpture maze made of cement is definitely worth visiting and walking through.
Ride the S-Bhan from Alexanderplatz (heart of the "east") to Zoo Station (heart of the "west") and witness the dramatic post-wall growth the city has seen.
Though more commercial than many of my other favorite Berlin places, it's worth visiting for the architecture alone -- the photo is of the Sony center.
Amazing museum in Berlin's Mitte district. They've rebuilt an entire Greek temple inside the museum and have an impressive wall of frescoes.
At the Sony center they sell a Wim Wenders's angels map to help you find them all...and really travel all over the city!
The Pergamon is tops!
Love Berlin!
this, along with your other guides, is definitely coming with me to berlin this year! thanks, adrian!
