Powell's City of Books

A book store so big you need a map. And you get lost anyway.

Missing Links Toy Store

The mecca for vinyl toys in Portland. Also tons of cute bags, shirts, accessories for the non-collectors.

Albina Press

Stumptown coffee, free wifi, tons of open air and couches.

Horse Brass Pub

Tries more than most to be a true Brit establishment. UK kids will feel right at home, which means they are headed here for a round before heading out.

Bernie's Southern Bistro

So good! Happy hour is a steal with $3 plates of food more than enough for dinner. One of the best staffs in portland.

Holocene

Dance dance dance. Check calendar for 90s nights, gaycation, and shows/DJ sets. Multiple little rooms for dancing and snuggling.

Lucca

Classy but not terribly pricey, delicious pizza and desserts. Awesome drinks!

Mississippi Studios

Tiny but has lots of great shows from people that will likely move up to bigger venues the next time they tour through portland.

Classical Chinese Gardens

Smaller than the japanese gardens but right downtown, check out the awesome blooms and stay for tea. Enjoy the zen.

Crafty Wonderland

A monthly gathering of local crafters, you can find handmake soap, origami earrings, pillows, fingerpuppets, crazy jewlery, recycled/found functional objects...

Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade

All the games you played at the pizza parlor as a kid are here with a ridiculous assortment of pinball games as well. Oh, and beer. Free monthly on last weds.

Rocco's Pizza & Pasta

Across from Powell's, good, cheap pizza. Pinball and total Portland bizarre decor. Dare you to steal the bathroom key.

Pioneer Courthouse Square Inc

Great meeting place with all the people watching you could hope for. Meth heads, soccer moms, hipsters alike all swing through to take a break.

Voodoo Doughnut Too

The downtown one is often cramped and crazy. The eastside one is the winner, with seating, pinball, and room to actually breathe. Memphis Mafia here I come!

Everyday Music

Sweet real CDs! Plan to spend hours digging around and finding some jems. And they'll buy all your unwanted cd/records. Do it! Down the street from Powell's

Jackpot Records

Generally better finds than the downtown location. Down the street from Missing Link and Powell's eastside.

Grass Hut

A serious pop and modern art store, this rivals the best in portland. Check out artists you will fall in love with and support the local merchandise.

Doug Fir Lounge

For getting swanky in your skinny jeans, this is a major hang out for people cooler than you. On the bright side, no one cares if you come hang anyway.

Amalfi's Italian Restaurant

Local and low key, great happy hour specials for food and tasty traditional Italian entrees. Garlic blue cheese dressing=magic.

Vita Cafe

One of the best vegan veggie options in Portland! Vegan biscuits and gravy, tempeh 'bacon'. Outdoor seating and a horseshoe toss out back. All vegan desserts.

Powell's Books on Hawthorne

A mini-Powell's and the home/garden store are here with helpful people and more books than you can shake a stick at.

Oasis Cafe

Pizza and beer in the hot spot of Hawthorne. Star Trek: TNG pinball!

Bagdad Theatre & Pub

Host to the annual Big Lebowski tribute, this place host cheap movies, designer beer and a very laid back ambiance. Bring some friends and a board game.
