A book store so big you need a map. And you get lost anyway.
The mecca for vinyl toys in Portland. Also tons of cute bags, shirts, accessories for the non-collectors.
Stumptown coffee, free wifi, tons of open air and couches.
Tries more than most to be a true Brit establishment. UK kids will feel right at home, which means they are headed here for a round before heading out.
So good! Happy hour is a steal with $3 plates of food more than enough for dinner. One of the best staffs in portland.
Dance dance dance. Check calendar for 90s nights, gaycation, and shows/DJ sets. Multiple little rooms for dancing and snuggling.

Tiny but has lots of great shows from people that will likely move up to bigger venues the next time they tour through portland.
Smaller than the japanese gardens but right downtown, check out the awesome blooms and stay for tea. Enjoy the zen.
A monthly gathering of local crafters, you can find handmake soap, origami earrings, pillows, fingerpuppets, crazy jewlery, recycled/found functional objects...
All the games you played at the pizza parlor as a kid are here with a ridiculous assortment of pinball games as well. Oh, and beer. Free monthly on last weds.
Across from Powell's, good, cheap pizza. Pinball and total Portland bizarre decor. Dare you to steal the bathroom key.
Great meeting place with all the people watching you could hope for. Meth heads, soccer moms, hipsters alike all swing through to take a break.
The downtown one is often cramped and crazy. The eastside one is the winner, with seating, pinball, and room to actually breathe. Memphis Mafia here I come!

A serious pop and modern art store, this rivals the best in portland. Check out artists you will fall in love with and support the local merchandise.
For getting swanky in your skinny jeans, this is a major hang out for people cooler than you. On the bright side, no one cares if you come hang anyway.
Local and low key, great happy hour specials for food and tasty traditional Italian entrees. Garlic blue cheese dressing=magic.
One of the best vegan veggie options in Portland! Vegan biscuits and gravy, tempeh 'bacon'. Outdoor seating and a horseshoe toss out back. All vegan desserts.
A mini-Powell's and the home/garden store are here with helpful people and more books than you can shake a stick at.
Pizza and beer in the hot spot of Hawthorne. Star Trek: TNG pinball!
Host to the annual Big Lebowski tribute, this place host cheap movies, designer beer and a very laid back ambiance. Bring some friends and a board game.
