London

I have been to quite a few places in London since I've been there more than a few times...Because London is a bit pricy, I try to find things that cost little or nothing. But it's a wise investment to buy a day or week pass for the tube. Best way around the city. Easy too.

The British Museum in Camden

The most complete collections of ancient artifacts and antiquities in the world. It is breathtaking and memorable for lovers of history, architecture and art

The Parthenon Pediment Sculptures in Camden

Parthenon Pediment Sculptures, cleopatra, rosetta stone, are just three of the antiquities this place holds. I go EVERYTIME I'm in London, even for an hour.

Caryatid from the Erechtheum

This is a authentic column from the porch from the building, Erechtheum which is on the Acropolis. Beautiful intricate carvings in the marble.

Cleopatra's Needle in Lambeth

It just seems out of place to have an Egyptian artifact in a London park, but this was a gift from Egypt in the 1800's.Nearby are 2 mini sphynx statues

Vinopolis in Lambeth

You get to travel the world's winemaking regions in one building.AND you get to do tastings in each "part of the world" besides learning how each region differs

Harrods in London

Everyone must experience the fine shopping of Harrods at least once. Even if nothing is purchased, the elaborate decorations are amazing

Queen's Gate in Dumfries

Along the south of Kensington Palace where the Royalty enter. Another elaborate view connected to the Monarchy. Hyde Park

Kensignton Palace

Kensington Palace is very beautiful, but not pertinacious at all. It is adjacent to Hype park, and is very approachable.

Although I didn't go inside for shoes, it was interesting looking at the building, because of the Dickens connection.

Buckingham Palace in London

Incredible to look at from the outside, however it is just that. You do get to see the changing of the guards however, very British.

Trafalgar Square in London

The Royal Opera House, and Covent Garden is in this area. We found a charming pub and had the mainstay-fish and chips. Delicious.

Tower Bridge, Tower Hamlets, London E1 in Poplar

It is a lot bigger than it looks when you go under in a boat. It's my vision of what London Bridge should look like.

Big Ben in London

Nice guide. Good suggestions. There are so many fun inexpensive things to do in this city.

But you really need to look, I can't believe how expensive it's gotten. Honestly, I try to avoid going there right now

DeborahMcCoy said 8 months, 3 weeks ago:

Absolutely right. There are fun cheap things to do there if you don't have to pay for a roof over your head or other essentials. I went because I was visiting the daughter of a good friend who was working in a pub for a year. A truly great city but hideously expensive.

What I don't get is that the flights are still full going there with Americans going on vacation. I thought we are in a recession?
